The journey
Not one lucky moment. A sequence of auditions, performances, knockout rounds and a final that demanded their best.
Happy Feet arrived at the auditions without the lights, the grand stage or the R100,000 prize. They arrived with courage, a shared dream and the willingness to be judged. That first appearance was the beginning of a journey that would test far more than choreography.
Their story captures the purpose of Universe X: where you start should not determine where you finish. Every round gave the dance duo another opportunity to learn, return stronger and prove that commitment can turn an overlooked beginning into visible potential.
Progress was never automatic. Happy Feet had to perform, face the scorecard and earn their place again. Through the knockout rounds, their precision, energy and partnership kept them moving forward while other strong contestants challenged for the throne.
At the Battle of the Throne final, they did not compete only against other dancers. They carried dance into the ultimate cross-category contest and faced the full field. Their performance impressed the judges and showed that movement could command the same stage as every other form of talent.
Happy Feet emerged as the 2026 Battle of the Throne champions and won the R100,000 grand prize. The victory belongs to their discipline and belief, but it also stands as proof for every young person watching: humble beginnings do not place a limit on the destination.

Happy Feet have won the throne, but their story does not end with the R100,000 prize. As champions, they now carry their achievement into the next great chapter: the future Crown of North West, where the leading champions from the Schools, Varsities and Community battles will meet for the province's highest honour.
